I've been working for a few months with one of my favorite writers on a story about hospice.
Our subject, Doug Cherry, is dying of congestive heart failure.
The story for the newspaper hasn't panned out exactly as we had hoped due to issues with access, but that doesn't matter. It's been such a pleasure to get to meet Doug and hear his story. I felt an immediate connection with him when we met, and I always leave his house smiling. His attitude toward life and death and his emphasis on positive thinking have made me want to try hard to be happier.
